The Wellbriety Movement

The Wellbriety Movement is the 21st Century effort on the part of Native Americans in Recovery to create the opportunity for individuals, families, communities and nations to live sober and balanced lives; healthy lives that are balanced emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. Since the time of Handsome Lake, there have been efforts to make healthy changes in the Native American community. Black Elk spoke of the hoop being broken, but now we are joining with thousands of other sober Native Americans to mend that hoop, to restore a sense of connectedness, meaning, and wellness for Native Americans.
